Rakhi Chandra continues social work, woman empowerment

Local social worker Rakhi Chandra is known for helping the poor and those in need of help. In addition to social activism, she has also been efficiently operating the Chandrashekhar Public School since 1989.
A lifelong member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, she has also worked as a municipal councillor in Roorkee from 1995 to 2001. She got various development works done in the IIT area during her term. As a member of the BJP’s Mahila Morcha State working committee, she motivated many women to join the party, which strengthened the party in the Roorkee Vidhan Sabha area.
Chandra also contributed to women’s welfare in her capacity as a member of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women. She is an active member of various social and cultural organisations and continues to help the general public and the needy in the area.
