The Uttarakhand government has made e-KYC mandatory for all ration card holders. People have been asked to complete the process by May 30 to continue getting ration benefits without any problem. Dehradun district supply officer (DSO) KK Aggarwal said those who fail to complete e-KYC may face difficulties in receiving food grains in future.

To help people, the government has launched the ‘Mera e-KYC’ mobile app. Through this app, people can complete the process from home. “It is especially helpful for elderly people, disabled persons and those who cannot visit ration shops. The process can be completed using Aadhaar number, OTP on the registered mobile number and face recognition,” Aggarwal said. According to official data, 72 per cent of white ration card holders have completed e-KYC. Out of 9.58 lakh card holders, around 6.91 lakh have finished the process. For yellow ration card holders, 40 per cent have completed e-KYC. Out of 5.03 lakh holders, about 1.98 lakh people have completed it.

Agrawal appealed to all ration card holders to complete their e-KYC before the deadline. He said this will ensure people continue getting government ration benefits regularly.
