Raturi directs officials to prepare action plan to curb pollution in Doon, Rishikesh & Kashipur

Chief secretary Radha Raturi has said that a clean air action plan should be prepared to curb pollution in Dehradun, Rishikesh and Kashipur. These cities have been included in the National Clean Air Programme (NACP). She added that the electric vehicle charging stations should be set up in the shopping malls of the State. Raturi directed all the departments to strictly follow the scrap policy of vehicles

The CS gave the orders while chairing the fourth State level steering committee meeting of the NCAP held at the State secretariat on Thursday.

She said that for developing green belts in the cities, priority should be given on planting bamboo in the empty spaces between the roads and in the traffic corridors.  Raturi directed the Urban Development department to track the garbage burning activities through the task force constituted at the municipal corporation level and work strictly and actively in this regard.  She said that the services of Mahila Mangal Dals should be taken in stopping littering activities.  On a stern note she said that the officers should ensure 100 per cent door to door collection of garbage in the cities.

In the meeting the CS directed the officers to install an integrated traffic management system at the main junctions.  The CS said that to achieve the target of reducing the amount of pollutants by 40 per cent by the year 2025-26, the departments concerned should work on a concrete action plan.

 Officials of the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board and other officers attended the meeting.
