The chief secretary Radha Raturi instructed the officials concerned to achieve the target of facilitating the placement of 1,500 youths from Uttarakhand abroad by December under the overseas placement programme. Chairing a meeting on Thursday, she said that the students should participate in the courses conducted by the Skill Development department. So far, 23 students have been sent to Japan for placement as caregivers under the government’s overseas placement programme. Additionally, a batch of 30 nursing staff will start preparing for training for Japan by August 10, she added.
Raturi further instructed officials to start new batches for training the youth to expedite the process and achieve the target of 1,500 placements. Four agencies – Navis, Learnet, Genrise and Envertis – have been listed by the Skill Development Department for the overseas placement programme to provide better opportunities to the talented and qualified youth of the state, she said.
Further, Raturi also instructed the officials to issue an open advertisement and organise a one-day workshop in the concerned educational institutions. So far, 56 students have been admitted for training by the listed agencies and NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation). Additionally, instructions have been given to conduct spoken English courses in ITIs to ensure that the youth of the state, especially those from hilly areas, do not face constraints in overseas placement programmes due to the English language. She added that the skill development department has also been instructed to conduct workshops and organise marketing events for overseas placement programmes in various nursing and hospitality institutes of the state. Furthermore, talks are being held with the Adani Group for the development of a global-level skill park in the state, she added.
“The proposal of Tata Technologies for upgrading 13 ITI in the state has been approved by the Finance Department and now has been sent to NABARD. An MoU is likely to be signed with Tata Technologies in this regard soon. Regarding the development of the centre of excellence in GITI in Kashipur, 95 per cent of placements have been done for the first five batches. Soon, students will be mobilised for future batches in both these GITIs,” said Raturi.
