The State education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the officials concerned on Wednesday to prepare a proposal for the full-fledged implementation of National Cadet Corps (NCC). This proposal will be discussed in the NCC expansion meeting slated on September 23 in New Delhi.
He informed that a high-level meeting of the representatives from the States and Union Territories is all set to take place on September 23 in New Delhi to be chaired by the Union minister of state for Defence.
“The meeting to be focused on the expansion of NCC will be attended by the education ministers from all States and Union Territories,” he said, adding that the main agenda of this meeting is to devise a plan for the implementation of the NCC expansion and to discuss the strategies involving both the Centre and the states in this regard.
Rawat further said that all aspects, including specific problems facing NCC in the State, expansion, implementation and the need for financial support, would be strongly presented at the meeting.
“In view of this, the officials concerned have been instructed to prepare new proposals for this purpose. As far as the State government is concerned, it is committed to expanding NCC, enhancing training and improving infrastructure and logistics. Efforts are being made to address the demands for NCC expansion at the state level, too,” the minister said.
Underscoring the importance of establishing junior and senior divisions of NCC in government schools and colleges in the State to provide more youth with the opportunity to join NCC, he said that this issue would figure prominently in the course of the high-level meeting. “It is essential to expand the scope of NCC in schools and colleges spread across the State,” he averred.
