Uttarakhand Public Service Commission chairman, major general (retd) AS Rawat retired after completing his four-year tenure on Thursday. Despite complexities in various examinations and selection procedures, and various restrictions put in place due to the Covid pandemic, the commission faced the challenges under Rawat’s chairmanship to successfully achieve the set targets. With much effort, long pending backlogs were brought to a state of no-pendency. Various important works were done in the commission during Rawat’s term as chairman.
These include construction of a library and its use by subject experts for preparation of syllabus for various exams and the question papers in a confidential and succinct manner. The examination hall built at the commission was established as the main centre for all major examinations. To meet the rising electricity requirement of the commission, a 140 KV solar power plant was also built on the commission premises under his guidance.
