Even as most candidate and political leaders are resting at home or calculating the possible outcome of the Assembly elections three days after polling was held, Congress leader and its candidate from Lalkuan, Harish Rawat is visiting the party workers at their homes and thanking them for their role in the election. Remaining in the constituency, Rawat is also listening to the issues of the locals. In the style that he is known for, he also visited a marriage function on Thursday at Gaulapar and served hot Aloo Tikkis to guests straight from the Tawa.
A steady stream of visitors is reaching Rawat’s temporary residence in the Teenpani area. Party workers from across the Kumaon region are arriving here to meet him. The visitors also included some leaders who contested the election and are feeling assured of their victory. After meeting the visitors at his residence, Rawat visited various areas. Visiting Chorgaliya, he visited the homes of local party leader where he interacted with the party workers and thanked them for their work in the elections. Later in the afternoon, he reached the residence of senior party leader Harendra Bora where former cabinet minister and Congress candidate from Bajpur, Yashpal Arya was also present. Here he had a meal with a large number of party workers. Thanking them, Rawat said that all development works will be started and problems of the area will be resolved on formation of the Congress government in the state. He then visited the home of Congress’ Haldwani candidate Sumit Hridayesh where former minister Harish Durgapal, MLA Harish Dhami and other party leaders were also present.
