Rawat expresses concern at slow pace of making Ayushman cards in some districts

Taking note of the slow pace of the making of Ayushman cards in some districts of the State, the health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the officers of the health department to find the reasons for it. He has also directed the officers of the health department to work in coordination with the Panchayat and Food and Civil supplies department for making of the health cards. The minister said that the pace of making health cards in Haridwar, Tehri, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts is slow. These districts lag behind others in making health cards.
Rawat has asked the chief executive officer (CEO) State Health Authority (SHA) Anand Srivastava to oversee the task of expediting the making of Ayushman cards in Haridwar districts. Similarly Director (Administration) SHA Dr BS Tolia has been entrusted the Kumaon division while director Atul Joshi the charge of Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Tehri districts.
The SHA has made and handed over more than 57.40 lakh Ayushman cards so far and a total of 12.22 lakh patients have availed the benefit of free treatment in the hospitals in the panel of the SHA.
The State government has paid a sum of Rs 2,474 crore for treatment under the scheme which otherwise would have been a burden on the patients. There are 101 government and 192 private hospitals in the State that are empanelled in the scheme.
The minister said that the government intends to make Ayushman cards of 100 per cent of the population of the State.
