Tuesday, 19 July 2022 | PNS | Haridwar

Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat criticised the Central government for the rate changes made in Goods and Service Tax (GST). He also taunted his party colleague Harak Singh Rawat referring to his recent meeting with the Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Rawat expressed these views while interacting with the media at the Radha Krishna Ashram here on Monday.

Regarding GST, the former chief minister said that now GST has also been imposed on the udders of cows and buffaloes. The central government will also impose GST on water and air. Quoting former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, he said that this is Gabbar Singh tax not GST. The Central government has now proved it and has shown that it is suppressing the middle class people by imposing taxes.

The senior Congress leader also taunted Harak Singh Rawat who had left the Bharatiya Janata Party to return to the Congress before the 2022 Assembly elections. He said, “The one whom I called killer of democracy for full five years, those people who cooperated with the BJP to kill democracy- it was our big heart that we took them back in our party. However, he should remember that if he believes in the democratic values of the Congress, then he should not have any relation with Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and he should not meet him secretly.”
