Accusing the Congress of pursuing a hidden agenda of minority appeasement, the Bharatiya Janata Party state spokesman Suresh Joshi has demanded that as per former chief minister Harish Rawat’s challenge, he should now retire from politics as the government order regarding leave for Namaz has come to the fore. Joshi alleged that to please a particular community, when in power the Congress announces leave for Namaz and when not in power it promises to open a Muslim university. He said that the people of Uttarakhand should realise that in public the Congress maintains the face of convenient Hindu while behind closed doors it promises establishment of Muslim university and closing offices for Namaz but on facing opposition, denies it on public platforms. “For years, the leaders of this Congress were against the creation of Uttarakhand and confused the statehood movement. When in power in Uttarakhand, their leader was seen on camera issuing ‘license’ to loot the state and now the party is talking of Uttarakhandiyat. The land reform law which the Congress is talking about could also be a scheme to settle people of a specific community in the mountains. The reliability of Congress is zero and its intent is not clear so the people will not fall for its hollow manifesto. On the basis of its stainless and unprecedented works, the double-engine government of the BJP is going to win these elections with the support of the people,” averred Joshi.
