Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat emphasised the pivotal role of academicians in reshaping the nation’s educational landscape during the inauguration of the two-day National Summit of Institutional Leaders (NSIL) 2025 at Doon University on Saturday. The summit is being held by Doon University in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, the Uttarakhand Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) and Vidya Bharti Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan.
During the event, Rawat emphasised on the importance of such initiatives in helping universities and higher educational institutions develop future roadmaps. He praised Doon University, UCOST and Vidya Bharti for their collaboration in this event. He said that Vidya Bharti’s students excel academically and benefit from holistic development, adding that this programme provides an opportunity to explore innovative practices implemented by other higher education institutions in India, which can be integrated into Uttarakhand.
National president of Vidya Bharti Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan Kailash Chandra Sharma stated that this is the third NSIL summit. He said that Vidya Bharti is grounded in the philosophy which advocates for a Bharat-centric approach to academics. With recent developments, Vidya Bharti aims to expand its focus on higher education to nurture confident and socially responsible generations equipped with essential skills. The summit’s primary goal is to promote experiential learning alongside ethics and value-based education, he said.
Doon University vice chancellor Surekha Dangwal highlighted the evolving academic landscape and stressed the need for collaboration, communication, clustering, collective utilisation of resources and synchronisation. She encouraged for a transformation of the Indian academic system, calling for an extension beyond traditional teaching and learning.
