RDI Jolly Grant presents certificates to 23 Asha workers

So far, ASHA certificates provided to 136 people in 6 batches
Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) presented certificates on behalf of the Rural Development Institute (RDI) Jolly Grant to the participants who successfully passed the ASHA Certificate Course on Wednesday. In all, 22 participants passed in the sixth batch of Asha Certificate Course started in 2023 in RDI. The chancellor and vice chancellor of Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) Vijay Dhasmana and Rajendra Dobhal respectively along with the principal of Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) Dr Ashok Deorari presented the certificates.
Addressing the programme, Dobhal said that the importance of community health workers has not diminished with time. They were as important today as they were two decades back, he said and added that the availability of health workers is as crucial as that of doctors in the remote villages even today.
Deorari, in his address, said that giving health education to the people and taking them to hospitals on time is an important task from the medical point of view. This was being done by the community health workers and their role, particularly in the rural and remote areas, could hardly be overemphasised, he said.
A senior functionary of HIHT Dr Rajeev Bijalwan said that till now 136 participants have been provided ASHA certificate courses by the State rural development department.
