Reach out to locals instead of sitting in AC offices: Doon DM
Administration to hold multi-purpose camps for resolving issues in rural areas

The officials should go to the spot and listen to the public problems to take effective steps towards solving them rather than just sitting in air conditioned offices, the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal said. He stated this during a meeting on Tuesday while emphasising the need for on-ground action. He said that instead of merely holding meetings in air-conditioned offices, officials should reach out to the people in their localities, listen to their problems first hand and take effective steps to resolve them. Besides this, the administration will soon organise large-scale multi-purpose camps to address the challenges faced by residents of remote and far-flung areas. These camps will provide immediate solutions to public grievances and ensure that government welfare schemes reach every household. Bansal directed the chief development officer to organise a comprehensive village outreach programme through these multi-purpose camps.
The objective of these camps is to ensure that no one is deprived of the benefits of government schemes, especially those living in the most distant areas. He informed that the multi-purpose camps will function as ‘government at the doorstep’, with all departments coming together under one roof. Locals will have the opportunity to complete formalities for various schemes, ranging from health check-ups and Ayushman cards to pension services, certification, Kisan Credit Cards, and employment-oriented training. He instructed departmental officers to attend these camps fully prepared and to provide immediate benefits of welfare schemes to the public on-site. He also stressed the importance of providing detailed information about the schemes and ensuring the application process is completed during the camp itself. “Any negligence in this matter will not be tolerated,” he said.
The primary aim of this initiative is to ensure that every eligible citizen, even those in the most remote corners of the district, receives the benefits of government schemes. The ultimate goal is to benefit the last person standing in line, the DM added.
