Record breaking influx in Haridwar, devotees bathe fearlessly amidst the pandemic

A record breaking influx of devotees was seen on Friday in Haridwar where devotees in larger numbers gathered to take a holy dip in the Ganga on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. It was evident that the they had became fearless and did not care about the dangers of the Covid19 infection. There were no border restrictions and it was easy for them to enter the district without any hindrance. There were more devotees this time than there were during the Maha Kumbh Mela. They were neither spotted wearing the mask nor maintained any physical distance. Even the health department was not seen doing any random checks. There are still patients carrying the Covid infection in the district and with lakhs of devotees bathing in the Ganga, there could be a high rise in the cases in the coming days.
