Recovered patients of Covid-19 should not get complacent : Experts

Maintenance of mental & physical health is important for such patients.

The patients who have recovered from the Covid-19 should take special care of their physical and mental health. Many patients complain about tiredness, body ache, cough and difficulty in breathing even after recovering from the disease.  The Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh Dr Ravikant said that overall care of patients recovering from covid-19 after discharge is very important.  He said that the patients who have been severely infected or have been suffering from some other disease in the past may take longer to recover fully. In such a situation, they should seriously follow the guidelines of Covid even at home, Dr Ravikant said.

The Head of Department (HoD) of Community and Family Medicine Dr Vartika Saxena said that the recovered patients should try to maintain good physical and mental health. She said that the recovered patients should not forget to wear a mask, maintain a physical distance and maintain cleanliness of hands and mouth. 

“They should take immunity enhancing medicine and fruits and should exercise for at least 30 minutes a day and practice Yoga. A sound sleep is necessary with intake of a balanced meal which is fresh and digestible. The patients of Diabetes patients should control their blood sugar level,’’ she said.

The doctors however warn that in case of any increase in body temperature, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, chest pain or physical weakness the recovered patients should immediately consult a doctor.
