Red alert issued for seven districts, orange alert for six districts

Moderate to heavy rain was witnessed in various parts of the State on Thursday though no major damage was reported in the State. The State meteorological centre has once again issued a red warning (Take Action) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at a few places with very heavy to extremely heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain at isolated places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Bageshwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand. The centre has also issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Almora and Pithoragarh districts today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in the districts of the State on Friday.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 28 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
On Thursday, there was 58.5 millimetres rain in Mukteshwar, 58 millimetres in Dhari, 54 millimetres in Lohaghat, 52.5 millimetres in Devidhura, 49 millimetres in Rudrapur, 42 millimetres in Nainital, 37 millimetres in Jageshwar, 12.9 millimetres in Dehradun, 23.8 millimeters in Pantnagar and 18.3 millimetres in New Tehri.
