Refresher course on ecology and biodiversity starts in CMPDI, Ranchi

The director general of the Indian Council of Forestry, Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun, Arun Singh Rawat inaugurated a two day refresher course on ecology and biodiversity on Wednesday for the senior executives of Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), Ranchi which is a subsidiary organization of Coal India Limited (CIL).
The course that started on Wednesday has been organised by the environment management division of ICFRE. Rawat talked about the importance of ecology and biodiversity in association to mining activities during his address in the inauguration. He also elaborated on the strength of ICFRE and its institutes on the subject and services rendered to CIL and its subsidiary organisations with respect to the management of ecology, biodiversity and coal mine environment.
The Deputy Director General (Extension), ICFRE stressed on the need of recent scientific methodologies for management of ecology and biodiversity corresponding to the mining. He also emphasised upon sustainable mining and proper eco-restoration of mined out areas with stress on soil and moisture conservation and enrichment of biodiversity in the mine affected areas. Technical sessions covering various aspects of ecology and biodiversity with emphasis on the coal mine environment were also held after the inauguration for the refresher course.
