Dehradun district administration will double the registration counters for Char Dham Yatra to streamline the process for pilgrims. A total of 30 counters will be set up in Rishikesh along with 20 in Vikasnagar. These counters will operate round the clock, with two personnel at each counter to ensure efficient processing. The officials concerned will strengthen network arrangements and will make offline registration facilities available. This was stated by Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal in a meeting held at Rishiparna Auditorium on Thursday which was also attended by Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh. They reviewed the preparations with officials from various departments. The DM emphasised timely completion of arrangements and assured that additional funds will be provided if required. Departments were instructed to submit their financial requirements immediately. He also reviewed facilities such as parking, accommodation, roads, water supply, transport, food and sanitation. The DM directed them to ensure smooth traffic movement at diversion points and kiosks besides arranging accommodation facilities to pilgrims at hotels, dharamshalas, gurdwaras and transit camps. Construction and repair work must be completed as scheduled. He instructed that passenger vehicles must meet fitness standards before being issued green cards. Movement timings for passenger and goods vehicles should be regulated. The Tourism and Transport departments will coordinate for manual trip card generation, he said. He further stated, “Any insufficiencies along the yatra route must be addressed immediately. LED screens must be installed at key locations for information dissemination. The respective municipal corporation and Public Works Department officials will handle these installations with district administration funding. The Health department will deploy medical personnel and ambulances and issue a health advisory. Drinking water facilities, including water ATMs and tankers, must be arranged at key locations.” The administration will not tolerate any laxity by any department in this regard, he added.
