Regularisation plan for UPNL workers soon: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has reiterated that the State government will soon formulate an effective plan to regularise the services of the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) workers. He said that the process of regularisation of UPNL workers will result in better financial conditions of these employees and will boost their self-confidence.
The CM attended a ceremony organised by the UPNL workers to felicitate him on Saturday. The UPNL workers expressed gratitude to the CM for his announcement regarding regularisation of UPNL workers.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the officers and employees of UPNL have been working with dedication and honesty for the last many years. He said that the cases registered against the UPNL workers during the course of their agitation will be reviewed. Dhami said that the State government will provide training in drone technology to the wives and daughters of ex-servicemen under Drone Didi Yojana. He announced that the State government will provide free Badrinath Yatra to all the ex-servicemen above 60 years of age and their families.
Asserting that the BJP government delivers whatever it promises, the CM said that the State government has provided benefit of 30 per cent reservation in jobs to the women of the state, given 10 per cent horizontal reservation to the statehood activists, implemented uniform civil code (UCC) and brought a stringent land law in the State.
The CM said that being a son of an armed forces personnel, he has seen the problems and challenges of a family of soldiers from close quarters. He said that the State government is working with dedication for the welfare of serving and retired armed forces personnel, the martyrs and their dependents. Dhami said that the State government is providing a monthly incentive of Rs 6000 per month to the ex-servicemen having experience of 10 or more years and Rs 5000 per month to those having an experience of less than 10 years.
He informed that the State government has increased the ex-gratia amount given to the dependents of martyrs from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. For providing the job to one member of the martyr family, the government has raised the time duration for applying for the job to five years. The government has raised the incentive to the recipients of Param Vir Chakra to Rs 1.5 crore.
Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi declared that a sum of Rs 50,000 would be given to the UPNL workers on marriage of their daughters. The compensation given on death of UPNL workers too has been increased to Rs 1.5 lakh.
The UPNL MD brigadier ( retd) JN Bisht, president of UPNL workers association Vinod Godiyal and others attended the ceremony.
