Senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rekha Arya has come out in support of Pushkar Singh Dhami as the new chief minister of the state. She said that the BJP had fought the assembly election of 2022 under the leadership of Dhami in Uttarakhand and he should be made the CM of the state. She said that under Dhami BJP was able to win 47 seats in the assembly and the party received the support of youngsters, women and other sections of the society. Arya said that unfortunately Dhami lost the election from Khatima assembly but everyone knows about his contribution in the party’s performance. She said that she requests the party high command to repose faith in the leadership of Dhami.
The statement of Arya assumes significance as she herself is said to be in the race for becoming next CM of the state. In fact she herself put forward her case when the name of Kotdwar MLA Ritu Khanduri propped up for the position of CM. Khanduri was projected as the Brahmin and women face by a section of the party following which Arya who was cabinet minister in BJP government and belongs to SC community also staked her claim for the top post.
