Rekha Arya becomes Kanwadiya for welfare of girl child

Carrying forward the message of protecting the girl child, Women Empowerment and Child Development minister Rekha Arya fetched water from the Ganga in Haridwar and walked to the Veerbhadra Mahadev temple in Rishikesh where she offered the water to lord Shiva. The cabinet minister was in the form of a Kanwadiya on Tuesday. The minister reached Har Ki Paidi where she offered prayers to Ganga. Members of the religious fraternity including Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad president Ravindra Puri and general secretary Hari Giri were also present on the occasion. The minister then walked about 25 kilometres to the Veebhadra Mahadev temple in Rishikesh where she offered the Ganga Jal and did Rudrabhishek. Arya said that the message of Shivratri is that Shiva is incomplete without Shakti. “I prayed to lord Shiva to enable Uttarakhand achieve a perfect sex ratio. Our efforts will continue to fulfill our resolution of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,” she said.
