Religious & cultural programmes along with cleaning drives held in U’kashi

Religious fervor and enthusiasm was observed in Uttarkashi with various activities being held on Sunday, the eve of the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Many locals illuminated their homes and distributed sweets. At the district headquarter Uttarkashi, a Bhajan programme and Ganga Arti was organised at the Ganga Ghat on Sunday evening. The district administration and various organisations jointly organised the Ganga Arti and devotional music programme.
Acharya Alok Shastri sang Bhajans while noted dancer Srivarna Rawat performed Kathak. Gangotri MLA Suresh Chauhan, district magistrate Abhishek Ruhela, various public representatives, officials and citizens attended the event. At the Sri Vishwanath Sanskrit PG College, an Akhand Ramayan Path and Deepdan programme was organised. Principal Dwarika Prasad Nautiyal said that the programme will continue for two days.
Apart from this, special cleaning is being conducted in the temples and Ghats in the district to mark the consecration of the Ram temple. As part of the cultural festival being organised since January 14, the special sanitation campaign has been conducted in temples and various other religious sites. Various religious and cultural programmes have also been held in different parts of the district to mark the occasion.
