The operation of the dental wing relocated from Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital to Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital will soon start operating. The medical superintendent of the hospital Dr VS Chauhan stated this while adding that this transition is part of a long-term initiative to move the dental wing from the district hospital to Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital, with a proposal for the transfer already submitted to the appropriate authorities. Additionally, the plans for the new dental wing at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital received prior approval some time ago, which enabled the executing agency to initiate construction shortly thereafter.
He stated that the construction of the dental wing has recently been completed, and the executing agency has officially handed it over to the hospital administration. Following this handover, the hospital administration promptly submitted a letter to the Director General of Health Services, informing them that the construction of the dental wing has been finalised and is now under the administration’s management. He further said that as a result, the department has begun procuring the necessary furniture, equipment and other materials for the wing.
Once the procurement process is completed, operations of the dental wing will commence. He expressed optimism that if the establishment process continues on this path, the operations could begin by April. He further conveyed that the newly relocated dental wing will be larger, as it will feature seven to eight rooms at the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital, compared to the current two or three rooms at the district hospital.
He also emphasised that this dental wing is intended to serve as a model dental centre, equipped with advanced technology and surgical capabilities. He said that personnel will be transferred from the district hospital and the department will also recruit super specialty doctors, if necessary.
