People with a valid doctor’s prescription can now buy Remdesivir from the authorised medical stores in Dehradun for Covid-19 patients. Also, it is mandatory to register the details of the guests attending a wedding ceremony in advance in order to restrict the gathering to 50 guests in a wedding function. The Dehradun district magistrate, Ashish Kumar Srivastava stated this while addressing the media persons on Monday. According to Srivastava, the district administration has formed teams to restrict the black marketing of Remdesivir in the district. The teams are continuously conducting inspection across the district to ensure zero hoarding and black marketing of drugs essential in the treatment of Covid-19 patients, informed Srivastava. He further disclosed that the district administration has authorised eight medical stores in Dehradun district that would provide Remdesivir on the prescription of doctors along with other crucial details up to the price of Rs 3,400. The hospitals would also have to display the prices of Remdesivir and oxygen, as per the DM.
The DM also asserted that there is no shortage of oxygen in hospitals for covid patients in the district. He said that the administration has authorised 10 oxygen suppliers in the district and has directed them to get all the important details from the buyer that mainly include name, a valid document for identification, Covid positive report of patient and prescription of a doctor for the oxygen. Besides this, the DM has also directed the selected suppliers to display the suitable prices of the oxygen and register all the details regularly to the administration.
Srivastava also disclosed that the administration currently has about 2000 oxygen supported beds and would also increase beds in covid care centres from 700 to 1000 beds. He revealed that the administration has also asked various hospitals to make their own dedicated Covid care centres and many are ready to establish the centres soon.
In order to restrict overcrowding in a wedding function, the administration has now issued orders to register the 50 guests who would be joining the wedding. As per the DM, the person organising the wedding would approach the city magistrate or the sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) of their respective areas and register the details of the guests. After police would examine these details and submit the report, the administration would issue the passes for the expected guests.
Meanwhile, many people have observed that some people who tested positive for Covid-19 roam around in public places without any restriction during their isolation period. The DM said that every covid positive patient is obliged to be in the home isolation for at least 17 days. He said that the first 10 days are recovery period while the remaining seven are for observation and as per the guidelines, home isolation cannot end before 17 days. Srivastava said that the Anganwadi workers are calling such patients and providing them with necessary information regularly but if anybody still spots Covid positive patients in public places, they can approach the authorities and strict action would be taken against them for the violation under the pandemic laws. This correspondent asked DM that most of the time, the online portal of the health department shows the status of bed available but when asked through phone calls, the status of the beds is declared to be unavailable. Responding to this, DM said, “The portal is asked to be updated thrice a day but sometimes things might get delayed. When the status of availability of beds is updated on the site as available and soon after that Covid patients arrive, the hospital would admit those patients. Due to this, the update of bed availability does not match sometimes with real status. This is the reason we have appointed nodal officers for such situations there.”
