The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress, Dhirendra Pratap has suggested that in view of the massive and regular traffic jams on the roads of the provisional capital of the State Dehradun, the State government should change its name to Jamnagar.

He said that at a time when the government is trying to create Hindu- Muslim divide by changing the names of the cities and localities, it should not shy away from the real problems faced by the people. The Congress leader said that the traffic police and administration have failed to solve the problem of traffic jams in Dehradun and the situation is becoming worse with every passing day.

He said that in the last one week the people have faced the problem of massive traffic jams on the occasion of Baisakhi, Ambedkar Jayanti and other programmes. Pratap said that the administration and Police have remained mute spectators during traffic jams. He said that it is the right time to change the name of Dehradun to  Jamnagar.
