With the objective of facilitating greater cultural engagement, the State culture department has initiated the process of making replicas of the artefacts being showcased now at the Himalayan Culture Centre (HCC) gallery. Speaking on this matter, the gallery assistant Janmajai Tiwari said that they are taking all steps to ensure that the replicas become indistinguishable from their original artworks. “The work of producing these replicas true to their originals has been entrusted to some experts from a renowned company long engaged in this specialised field. The process has already commenced at HCC, starting with the selection phase which involves a thorough analysis resulting in the final selection of 51 replicas. However, the progress in producing these replicas has been delayed by documentation procedures. We hope that with the prompt approval of the authorities concerned, the replication work will start soon,” he said.
He further said that to house these replicas, a laboratory would be established. “Besides, there would be another laboratory for their long-term conservation and maintenance. We will set up a ticket counter at HCC after the replicas are readied,” he said and added that the introduction of the replicas in the HCC would serve multiple purposes.
