Republic Day celebrated with patriotic fervour
The 72nd Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the Parade Ground in state capital Dehradun on Tuesday.
The Governor Baby Rani Maurya hoisted the national flag and reviewed the parade held on the occasion. The personnel of the army, ITBP, police, PAC, Homeguard and PRD took out a march past at Parade Ground to mark the Republic Day. While folk artistes of the state performed on the occasion, the governor also awarded police personnel for commendable performance.
A number of tableaux were also taken out by different government departments and organisations on various government schemes and works on the occasion. These included the tableaux by forest department, SDRF, Rural Development Department, UREDA, Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL), MDDA, education department, tourism department, horticulture department, health department and industry department. The tableaux of the health and rural development departments were jointly adjudged the best followed by the tableau of DSCL in second position and education department in the third place.
Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, MPs Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Naresh Bansal, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, local MLA Khajan Das, chief secretary Om Prakash, director general of police Ashok Kumar and others were also present on the occasion.
