Dharampur MLA and senior leader of BJP, Vinod Chamoli has expressed gratitude to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and rescue agencies for saving lives of thousands of people in the recent rain triggered disaster. He also expressed hope that the Char Dham Yatra will resume soon.
Chamoli said that Uttarakhand is bearing the brunt of the disaster and it is the result of an effective and mega rescue operation that more than 16,000 people were safely evacuated. He said that the Police, administration and the agencies associated with rescue worked in tandem for the success of the operation. Chamoli added that local people and different social organisations also helped in tiding over the crisis.
He said that the first priority of the State government was to save the lives of the people stranded in disaster and after accomplishment of this task the priority is to restart the Yatra. Taking this into consideration, the CM has directed the officers to restart the Yatra and has offered a rebate of 25 per cent in the fares of Heli services to Kedarnath Dham, he said.
The BJP leader said that it is very challenging to restart the Yatra as more than 75 per cent of the bridle path to Kedarnath is damaged. The State government has taken up the challenge and set a target to restart Yatra within a week.
