Respect ideals of statehood movement: Pritam Singh

Says the development plan should keep the basic sentiments of the statehood movement at core.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has said that the development of Uttarakhand should be according to the basic sentiments of the statehood movement. He was addressing a ceremony organised to felicitate the newly appointed spokesperson of ‘Chinhit Rajya Andolankari Samiti’ Mahesh Joshi at Congress Bhawan here on Saturday. Congratulating Joshi, Singh said that everyone played a role in creation of a separate state and the role played by women and youth was of paramount importance. He said that the people of the state reeling under lack of basic facilities like health and education fought a protracted battle for creation of Uttarakhand. Launching an attack on the BJP government of Uttarakhand, the PCC chief said that it has failed in every front and the state government is forced to borrow for paying the salaries of the employees. He said that the people of the state are suffering from lack of health facilities and by increasing unemployment. He said that the BJP is ignoring the very issues on which it won the assembly elections of 2017. The PCC president said that the people of the state who returned to their homes during the pandemic are now suffering from economic hardships. He said that the Trivendra Singh Rawat government which made lofty talks about reverse migration has no policy nor any will to tackle the issue of migration.
