Restart Sitarganj sugar mill by next crushing season: CM

A complete plan should be prepared soon to ensure that the Sitarganj sugar mill starts again by the next sugar cane crushing session. The chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat issued this direction to officials concerned while chairing a meeting regarding the Sitarganj sugar mill at the secretariat here on Thursday.

Stating that the welfare of farmers should be the first aim, the chief minister said that it is important for the infrastructure built in Sitarganj is put to good use. This will ensure that the sugar cane producers do not face any problems in the sale of their produce while at the same time employment opportunities will also increase for others. He stressed that the process for starting the Sitarganj sugar mill from the next crushing session should be started now. The suggestions of technical team and experts can also be taken for this purpose, added the chief minister.

The Sitarganj MLA Saurabh Bahuguna, Rural Development and Migration Commission vice chairman Sharad Singh Negi, the CM’s technical advisor Narendra Singh, additional chief secretary Manisha Panwar, secretaries Amit Singh Negi, Radhika Jha, sugar federation director Chandresh Yadav and additional secretary V Shanmugham were also among those present in the meeting.
