Retired lieutenant colonel, wife booked in property fraud

Dehradun police have registered a case against a retired lieutenant colonel, his wife and some of their family members for allegedly cheating a man in a property deal after a case of property fraud came to light in the Patelnagar area of the city.
The complainant, Lakkhibagh resident Mayur Gupta told the police that he had agreed to buy a property in Bhandaribagh. The deal had been fixed at Rs 30.50 lakh after which he had paid an advance amount of Rs four lakh, he told police.
As per the complaint lodged at Patelnagar police station, the accused later sold the same property to another person without informing the complainant and returning the money paid by him in advance.
Thereafter, the complainant approached the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Premendra Dobal and filed a complaint. Acting on his instructions, the Patelnagar police registered a case and started an investigation.
Police officials said that further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
