Revenue officer suspended for delaying implementation of DM’s 2018 order

The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal suspended revenue officer Rahul Dev for withholding the implementation process for over seven years in an old land-related case involving elderly resident Ravindra Singh. The matter dates back to 2018 when an order under Section 28 was passed by the then district magistrate but despite years of follow-up, the correction was not reflected in the revenue records, as per the officials.

The issue came to light during a recent public grievance hearing, where Singh approached Bansal. Singh informed the DM that although the mutation order was received by the tehsil office in 2018 and later entered into the R-6 register in 2023, the land map correction was still pending. He stated that despite repeated visits to the tehsil office, no action had been taken. Following the hearing, the DM directed the Tehsildar to present a suspension file for the respective officer Dev who was serving as the Sadar Revenue Kanungo.

The DM later suspended him with immediate effect for failing to act on official orders and for holding up files for years. The DM has also instructed all officials to work efficiently for the welfare of common people or strict action will be taken against those causing unnecessary hindrance to people’s work.
