Rishikesh rail project to be completed on time: Goyal

The Union Railway minister Piyush Goyal expressed satisfaction at the progress in the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project. He said that this ambitious project will be completed on time. While visiting the Yognagari Rishikesh railway station here on Sunday evening, the union minister said that soon the Char Dhams in Uttarakhand will also be connected by rail.

The minister who is on a two-day private visit to Uttarakhand, reached Yognagari Rishikesh- the first railway station of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project. The Vidhan Sabha speaker Prem Chand Aggarwal and Rishikesh mayor Anita Mamgain also reached the railway station. Inspecting the new railway station along with departmental officials, the union minister was informed about the progress in the Rishikesh-Karnprayag project by the officials. The minister appreciated the facilities and other aspects of the new railway station in Rishikesh. Meanwhile, the Vidhan Sabha speaker told Goyal that people were enthused with the new railway station set to receive its maiden train on Monday. He said that like a train is named after Hemkund, trains should also be named after Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project covering a length of 125 kilometres is slated to be completed by 2024-25.
