Rising prices, farmers’ plight; Cong to hold protest today
In charge Yadav meets senior leaders, decides to take up the issue of price rise aggressively
On the issues of price rise and agitation of farmers, the Uttarakhand Congress would hold protests and foot marches (Padh Yatras) in all district headquarters of the state on Saturday. On Monday, the party would hold such protests and Padh Yatras in all the Blocks. The party had earlier decided to hold foot marches (Padh Yatras) in all parts of the state on February 15 but suspended its plan in the wake of the Chamoli disaster.
The in charge of the Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav remained closeted with the senior leaders of Uttarakhand Congress on Friday. In the series of meetings held on the day it was decided that the party would take up the issue of price rise aggressively. In these meetings the former chief minister and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state assembly Indira Hridayesh, AICC secretary Qazi Nizamuddin, deputy leader of Congress legislature party Karan Mahra, Manish Khanduri, Suryakant Dhasmana, Vijay Saraswat, Sanjay Paliwal, Shilpi Arora , Garima Dassauni and other senior leaders participated.
The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress, Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the party has decided to wage a protracted battle on the issues of price rise and plight of farmers. He informed that after the district and block level programmes on February 20 and 22 respectively, the party would take up the agitation at Nyaya Panchayat, village and ward levels. “We would take the discussion on the price rise to every household of the state. In the meeting of programme implementation committee, the state in charge Devendra Yadav was of the view that the party is gaining ground by adopting the strategy of strengthening the organisation and agitation,’’ he said.
Dhasmana made coordinator of U’khand Cong
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh has handed over the important assignment of coordinator of the party organisation to Vice President Surya Kant Dhasmana. He would coordinate with the all the district in charges of the party with the high powered programme implementation committee.
