Roadside litter will not be tolerated: CDO

While presiding over a meeting of the District Ganga Committee in the Collectorate here on Monday, the chief development officer, Divesh Shashani said that 100 per cent of government and private sewer trucks in the district would be registered with the local bodies and GPS would be installed in them so that they could be monitored.

He further said that such vehicles should only discharge the sewage into the STPs. “Actions will be taken against those who discharge the sewage elsewhere,” he said. He directed the civic officials to identify the places where people regularly dump garbage, send photographs and install CCTV cameras at these places to identify those who are dumping garbage. “Garbage should not be visible on the roadside,” he said.

Shashani directed the senior officers concerned to conduct a joint inspection and submit a proposal for setting up an FSTP plant in Khatima. He further directed the pollution control board officers to conduct regular inspections in industrial institutions and ensure action is taken against those discharging untreated water into rivers and rivulets. He stressed on all hotels being registered.  

Also, he instructed the chief medical officer to ensure that the biomedical waste generated daily from hospitals is disposed of as per the standards. Helaid emphasis on all guidelines formulated under Namami Gange and National Green Tribunal being followed strictly.
