An abortive attempt has been made to loot Naninital Bank branch in Nainital. The robber has succeeded in reaching the strong room by breaking several locks, including those of main gate and channel. However, he failed to break into the locker, police said. The bank is situated near the Kotwali police station. The robber deactivated the CCTV camera installed at tri-junction by cutting its wires. However, the camera inside the bank captured his pictures wearing overcoat and carrying a bag for half an hour. Forensic team has started investigation into the attempted robbery by collecting fingerprints. Police further informed that this is the first such bank robbery attempt using gas cutter in the mountainous district of Nainital. It is further learnt from police that the bank’s computer system has remained intact despite the attempted robbery.
