The Uttarakhand unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has said that the BJP government of Uttarakhand has added fuel to the fire of the price rise by hiking the circle rates of land. Addressing media persons, the state spokesperson Ravindra Singh Anand said that the circle rates have been increased by 70 to 120 per cent which has hit the middle class and general public already reeling under the effect of general increase in prices of essential items. He said that it is a dream of every common person to have a house of his own and generally in his lifetime he is able to construct only one house. Anand said that by hiking the circle rates, the state government has shattered the dream of a house of the common man. Terming the decision of the government as anti people, the AAP leader said that the decision is taken by the government which talks about providing roof to every family. He said that never in the last five to ten years such an increase in circle rates has been affected which proves that the BJP government of Uttarakhand is functioning in a despotic manner.
Questioning the timing and motive of the hike at a time when the State is suffering from the disaster of land subsidence in Joshimath and the people of the city are scouting for land in other places for rehabilitation, the AAP leader said that the government should understand the situation.
Anand demanded that the State should take back the hike in the circle rates with immediate effect. He said that the youth, traders, employees and women all are on the path of agitation and the State government is continuing to have an apathetic attitude towards them. The AAP leader warned that the BJP would have to face the consequences of the anti people decisions in the upcoming elections.
