Chief secretary Anand Bardhan has said that the ropeway projects are vital for ensuring better mobility, promoting tourism, strengthening economy and for the overall development of the State.
The CS chaired the first board meeting with departments concerned, stakeholders and Public Private Partnership (PPP) companies involved in the development, operation and maintenance of ropeway projects in Uttarakhand at his office on Monday. Conducting a detailed review of the current status of ongoing and proposed ropeway projects in various districts, the CS sought information on the project progress from the respective district magistrates and directed that the projects should be expedited.
He directed that procedures such as the feasibility study should be presented to the High Power Committee (HPC) at an early stage so that detailed discussions on all aspects of the projects can be held. The CS also directed that thorough and prompt scrutiny of ropeway-related proposals should be done to ensure prompt resolution of all issues and to avoid unnecessary delays.
The CS said that all the procedures including technical, financial and administrative approvals, for ropeway projects being built under PPP mode should be completed expeditiously. He said that the work on all the ropeway projects should be completed within the stipulated time frame. In the meeting, the CS took a stern note of the delays in the Dehradun-Mussoorie ropeway project and directed the officers to expedite its progress. He called for better coordination between the district administration, work execution agencies, the Public Works Department and the police to address local challenges. The CS also directed that issues that need to be presented before the HPC or Board be submitted in a timely manner.
Secretary Dilip Jawalkar, Pankaj Pandey, Dheeraj Singh Garbyal, additional secretary Abhishek Ruhela, Prashant Jain from National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and others attended the meeting.
