Rs 130 crore allotted for fencing to protect crops from wild animals

CM Dhami announces Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana for extension of road network in the rural areas of the State

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that a sum of Rs 130 Crores would be provided for fencing to protect agriculture and horticulture from the wild animals in the mountainous districts of the State. He made this declaration while undertaking the review meeting of the rural development department at the State secretariat on Friday. Dhami said that the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana would start to extend the road network in the rural areas of the State. He said that on the lines of the Prime Minister’s vibrant village programme, some villages located on Nepal border would be earmarked and developed under the CM border area development scheme. Under the PM vibrant village programme four villages located on the Indo- China border Niti, Mana, Malari and Gunji have been selected. In the meeting the CM told the officers that 1200 more Amrit Sarovars would be built under Amrit Sarovar Yojana and directed them to focus on ways of increasing the earning of the people by them. He said that the Amrit Sarovars should be linked with fish culture. The CM ordered that the proposal to increase the grant under the animal fencing scheme from the existing Rs 48,000 should be brought.

He said that work on mission mode should be undertaken for promotion of apple and Kiwi plantations. Dhami said that efforts should be made to provide an impetus in the income of people by promoting horticulture in the State. He directed the officers to make arrangements for online marketing to promote the local products. He also stressed on fulfilment of the target of the State government to make 1.25 lakhpati Didis in a planned manner. Dhami said that the buildings being made by different departments and the work executive agencies should be constructed as per the local architecture. On a stern note the CM directed for fast disposal of the compensation claims under the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)
The officers told the CM that under PMGSY, a total of 11621 kms of roads were constructed at a cost of Rs 5838 crores in the last five years. Similarly 5.5 lakh families were linked with the MNREGS every year in the last five years.

The rural development minister Ganesh Joshi, additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, secretary BVRC Purushottam, commissioner rural development Anand Swarup and others were present on the occasion.
