Rs 15,000 cr proposed for AP on capital city development

Along with Bihar, the Central Government has announced financial support for Andhra Pradesh in the budget proposals presented by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.  This includes arranging Rs 15,000 crore this fiscal and in future years for development of the capital city of the State. She said that the Centre is committed to providing financial support to the State for developing its capital city.

Further, the Centre allocated over Rs three lakh crore for schemes meant for women and girls, she said and added that it would faineance Polavaram irrigation project. Plus, she announced backward region grant for three districts of the State.

A key ally of the BJP-led government in the Centre, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) launched stir time and again since 2014, demanding special category status for the State which means the Centre providing special assistance in the form of tax benefits and financial support for development of the region.
