Rs 250 crore budget approved for 38th National Games

A Rs 250 crore budget was approved for organising the 38th National Games in the State during the budget session of the Assembly which was adjourned sine die on Thursday. Sports and Youth Welfare department director Jitendra Sonkar expressed gratitude for the approval of this budget. He said that 90 per cent of the preparations including the infrastrcutual aspects have been completed with only 10 per cent of work remaining for the National Games. The schedule for the National Games is expected to be finalised soon. It is anticipated that the National Games will take place in October this year.
Notably, the director of Sports and Youth Welfare department had recently informed that the National Games will run for 14 days, including two days designated for the opening and closing ceremonies. He also specified that 34 sports will be featured at the National Games with 16 of them slated to be held in Dehradun. The athletic events are expected to take place at Maharana Pratap Sports College, while the Parade Ground will serve as the venue for badminton matches.
