Acting on the directive of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State administration has granted Rs three crore for the upcoming  Kanwad Yatra. This amount has been approved in response to requests of different departments and will be allotted to the district magistrate of Haridwar. The department had stressed that several arrangements must be made for a smooth and hassle-free Kanwad Yatra 2024.

In the course of a recent review meeting, Dhami directed the officials concerned to organise the Kanwad Yatra in a systematic manner. He emphasised the need to provide all necessary facilities to the devotees who would participate in this year’s Yatra, considering the large number of Shiva devotees who attended last year. Also, he highlighted the importance of maintaining peace besides effectively managing traffic during this period when thousands of people from across several states are likely to throng Haridwar to collect Ganga jaal.

The additional secretary of Urban Development Nitin Bhadoria stated in the government order addressed to the DM Haridwar that funds should only be allocated for the most essential works in accordance with the financial rules.  “If it is felt necessary to seek separate financial and administrative approval from the government for any construction work, such proposals must be submitted separately,” he added.
