Rs 700 crore approved for two-lane tunnel in Mussoorie

The Union minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari announced that Rs 700 crore has been approved for constructing a two-lane tunnel in Mussoorie between the Mall Road and the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. After Gadkari tweeted about the approval, the chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat thanked the union minister for the decision which will help improve traffic regulation and make commuting more convenient in Mussoorie. This tunnel will be 2.74 kilometres in length.
Gadkari had tweeted that on the national highway 707 A, approval has been granted for Rs 700 crore in order to construct a 2.74 kilometre long tunnel from the Mall Road to LBSNAA in Mussoorie. Responding to this, the chief minister also tweeted and thanked the union minister. Rawat said that the construction of the tunnel will improve the traffic in Mussoorie city and make travelling more convenient. He said that the construction of this two-lane tunnel along with the widening and strengthening of the roads nearby will not only enhance public convenience but also prove helpful in the execution of rescue and relief efforts at the time of disasters.
The chief minister further said that these developments will also help in further improving the connectivity to the Jaunsar Bawar region and opening avenues for developmental activities in the region. The construction of the tunnel along with widening and strengthening of nearby roads will help bring the region into the mainstream of development. This will also help lend a new identity to the region from the tourism point of view, added the chief minister.
