The regional transport office (RTO) of Dehradun has decided to increase the number of slots to conduct the test for learning license from 90 to 120 applicants daily from Monday. At present, 90 applicants are allowed to apply for learning licenses daily that include 60 new applicants and 30 from the backlog. The RTO was closed to the public in the second week of January due to increasing cases of Covid-19. The work resumed from January 24 in the premises but the authorities made prior appointments mandatory to carry out works in the RTO and also limited the number of slots provided to the applicants of learning license and permanent driving license. The RTO later removed the condition of booking online time slots to carry out works related to permits, challans and others in the premises from February 25 but did not increase the number of slots for learning and permanent driving licences. The regional transport officer (administration) Dinesh Chandra Pathoi informed that the conditions have been returning to normal across the district and considering the recent guidelines of centre, state and the district administration, the RTO has decided to fully resume all works in its premises. He said that only 90 applicants of learning license will be allowed for license but from March 14, a total of 120 applicants will be allowed to apply for them. He said that the authorities will ensure that all people entering the premises of RTO follow Covid-19 protocols.
