The officials of the Dehradun division’s Regional Transport Office (RTO) will present a proposal for starting the operation of mini buses on the routes that are not connected to the main city area in the meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA).
The meeting is scheduled for the third week of this month, said the regional transport officer (Administration) of the Dehradun division Sunil Sharma. He said that the transport department had prepared a three tier plan to facilitate public transport in semi-rural areas and internal routes of Dehradun to provide an easy and efficient way for people to access public transportation.
As part of this plan, the department will first connect all routes of remote areas with the main city as many have to change multiple vehicles to reach the city area on a daily basis. He said that they want to introduce mini buses on such routes rather than Vikrams or e-rickshaws as they want an efficient mode of public transport for people. “This proposal will be presented in the RTA meeting which is scheduled to be held in the third week of this month. Besides this, several other proposals will also be presented in the meeting regarding the Public transportation system in the Dehradun division of the department,” Sharma said.
