Sacrifices of statehood activists created U’khand: Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that a separate State of Uttarakhand was created due to the struggle and sacrifice of the statehood activists. Terming the incident of October 2, 1994 in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh as an unfortunate event the CM said that brutal force was used on the statehood activists on the day which resulted in martyrdom of many activists. The CM was addressing a programme organised to pay homage to the martyrs of statehood movement at Muzaffarnagar in UP on Monday. Dhami said that the State government is committed to the development of the State on the lines of the commitments and dreams of the statehood movement. He added that the government has made a commitment to provide honour and authority to the statehood activists and it has decided to provide 10 per cent reservation to them. The government has also increased the pension of statehood activists and has decided to provide pension to their dependents after their deaths. The CM said that a uniform pension will be provided to all the statehood activists.
He said that the State government is committed to make Uttarakhand the best State in the country under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union minister for State Ajay Bhatt said that Uttarakhand was created due to the sacrifice of statehood activists. He said that during the tenure of PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Uttarakhand was carved out of UP and it was he who gave a special industrial package to the State.
The BJP Uttarakhand president Mahendra Bhatt said that the foundation of development of the State is being laid in accordance with the aspirations of the statehood activists. Union minister of State Sanjeev Baliyan, UP minister UP Kapil Dev Agarwal, MLA Pradeep Batra and others were present on the occasion.
