Salt by election: Harish Rawat plays emotional card
Tuesday, 06 April 2021 | PNS | Dehradun
In what is being viewed as a move to counter the sympathy card played by the ruling BJP in the Salt assembly by election, the former Chief Minister and general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Harish Rawat has made a sentimental appeal to the people of Salt from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi.
The former CM and Congress stalwart is at present admitted in the AIIMS Delhi after being found positive for Covid-19. “While lying in the hospital bed of AIIMS, the challenge before me is not only to get healthy but to see the victory of two Gangas near my village. The victory of Congress which is like Ganga to me in the assembly election of 2022 is like Amritdhara and the victory of my daughter Ganga would be the victory of Mahila Shakti. I am sure that the dignity of Uttarakhand would be victorious over the money power of BJP,’’ said Rawat in a video message.
The by election for the Salt assembly constituency would be held on April 17. The by-election is necessitated due to the death of the BJP MLA Surendra Singh Jeena.
