CS holds meeting a week after CM directs officials to plan special development of Pauri

Chief secretary SS Sandhu chaired a meeting with officials and the Pauri district magistrate regarding basic infrastructural development in Pauri district at the secretariat on Wednesday. He directed the district magistrate to ensure that all roads in the district are made free of potholes. The meeting comes a few days after chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami issued directions to officials to prepare special plan for development of Pauri and revival of its stature as the divisional headquarters of Garhwal division.

Sandhu directed officials to prepare plans for development of sewerage system and solution to the parking problem in Pauri. Stating that there is considerable scope for solar projects in the district, the chief secretary directed officials to encourage solar projects as much as possible in the district. He also directed the officials to send proposals aimed at encouraging eco tourism in the district. Sandhu told the Pauri district magistrate Ashish Chauhan to talk with all departments and seek suggestions. Practical proposals should be sent for the development of the district. He also directed the officials to prepare a practical proposal for the Ransi stadium.

The district magistrate spoke about the possibilities of mountain museum, water sports, jungle-bird eco tourism and rope projects. The chief secretary said that work in this direction should be expedited and proposals on the same should be prepared soon. He directed all the divisional level officials to avoid unnecessary trips to the provisional State capital Dehradun. Secretaries Shailesh Bagauli, Dilip Jawalkar, Arvind Singh Hyanki and Garhwal commissioner Sushil Kumar were also among those present in the meeting.

It will be recalled that earlier on February 14, after a two-day tour of Pauri, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had directed officials to prepare a special plan for the development of Pauri while pointing out the historic and cultural importance of Pauri along with its natural beauty to the officials. Taking cognisance of divisional offices not functioning in the Garhwal divisional headquarters at Pauri, he had directed the secretary, CM/district in-charge to study and present a report in one week about the divisional offices which have or should have buildings in Pauri and are being conducted from Dehradun or other locations.
