Satpal Maharaj inaugurates/ unveils schemes worth Rs 35.38 crore for US Nagar district

The State tourism, culture and panchayati raj minister Satpal Maharaj inaugurated and unveiled foundation stones of a string of developmental projects worth Rs 35.38 crore for Udham Singh Nagar district. He said that those who have more than two children can now contest elections to block panchayat and district panchayat with the state government having fixed a cutoff date. He gave detailed information about the development works done by the irrigation and public works departments for the financial year 2022-23.

In his address, he made an important announcement about cut- off date for contesting for block and district panchayat elections. He said that people who had more than two children before July 25, 2019 can contest the elections.
 

He further said in his address that the State government has asked the Centre to consider giving it the right to conduct election of block chiefs and district panchayat presidents so that they are elected directly in the same way as the mayor is elected.  He informed that an amount of Rs 242 crore has been released for empowering three-tier panchayats.

The minister said that to ensure that the roads are pothole free, the Public Works Department is about to release an app. “Anyone can upload the photo of the pothole on this app through mobile and it will be  received directly by the PWD. Immediately on receiving, the department will act on the complaint and after things are repaired, it will upload the photo which will be received by the complainant,” he said.
