In latest Uttarakhand news, the State PWD and irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj ordered investigation into the collapse of a part of the key bridge across Malan river in Kotdwar due to heavy rain and resultant inundation. As per the minister’s order, the State irrigation department secretary Pankaj Pandey will conduct the investigation into the bridge collapse incident. Maharaj said that the probe report should be sent to him at the earliest, detailing why and how the bridge had collapsed. He further directed Pandey to ensure that alternative roads are opened in no time to end the transportation problem the people have been facing due the blockage of several roads caused by torrential rain and falling boulders. He stressed on repairing of all the rain-damaged roads once the current rain spell ends. Maharaj also asked the chief engineer of the State Irrigation department Jaipal Singh to provide him with details pertaining to the status of all the rivers of the State and their water levels.
